Fifteen-year-old Mitchell Rowley completed a nine-darter on the JDC Advanced Tour after recently becoming the youngest player to be crowned WDF World No. 1.

The teenager, considered to be darts’ hottest young sensation since Luke Littler, averaged 103 points in his first match of the day and used a perfect foot to defeat Ethan Howden 4-1 to win the event.

Lowry won both the WDF circuit’s silver-ranked events, the Slovak Open and the Slovak Masters, last weekend, securing him No. 1 in the world rankings after winning the Scottish Classic title earlier this season.

Last December, Rory became the first teenager in history to reach the WDF World Championship finals, and made headlines by dropping just one set in all of her matches so far.

That same month, he won the JDC World Title at Alexandra Palace, adding to the three senior titles Rory had already won in 2025: British Open, Irish Classic and Welsh Open.

The Scot is the youngest player to win three senior titles and has already won three more this season to reach number one in the world rankings.

Lowry is ranked ahead of No. 2 Jenson Walker, another emerging talent at amateur level, and World Darts Championship fan favorite Leonard Gates.

World champion Luke Littler congratulated Rory on winning his first senior title in December and understands why the two young darts superstars are being compared.

“He’s a very, very good player at my young age, so obviously I’m thinking about his record winning the WDF Open,” Littler said.

“That’s another thing he surprised me with, he’s a very good player.

“It’s crazy, he has to wait so many years for the development tour.

“But for now, he has to wait, so he has to keep at it.

“But right now we have a lot of chances to win the tournament.”

So, what is Littler’s advice to Lowry? He believes he needs to take chances and just keep moving forward, making sure his game is at its best, in case he is given the opportunity to join the Development Tour at the age of 16.

“You just have to keep your head down. You still have to keep moving forward,” he added.

“When I was 14 or 15 years old, I was like, ‘Oh, I have one more year until I can do the Development Tour.’

“He’s definitely thinking the same way he’s been playing so far, so if he just keeps his head down, yeah, he’ll be on tour.”

Who will win this year’s Premier League Darts? Luke Humphries will defend his title and you can watch the match every Thursday on Sky Sports until May. Stream darts and other top sports now.
