A new wave of AI-powered gadgets on the market aims to integrate artificial intelligence into our daily lives like never before.

Some of these AI wearables (necklaces, rings, wristbands, portable devices, etc.) claim to act as productivity tools, while others claim to act as friendly companions that listen to users’ daily thoughts. At OpenAI, we are also working on developing a compact AI companion device.

Below, we’ve compiled some of the most notable devices available today.

bee

Bee is an affordable $49.99 pendant that can be clipped to clothing or worn like a fitness band. The device records everything it hears, learns your routines and preferences, and creates reminders and notes. It also has a mute button in case you need some privacy.

A companion app (currently available only on iOS) is included in the $19/month subscription. This app allows you to interact directly with Bee and ask questions. You can also get a chronological transcript of the day’s key points and conversations.

Amazon recently acquired a wearable startup in July.

Friend is one of the most hyped entrants in the “personal AI” device market.

This $129 white pendant acts as emotional support when worn around your neck. It can recognize your tone and mood and chat with you as if you were a friend. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and is always listening and ready to respond or send you a proactive message, like wishing you luck before your interview.

But it has also faced criticism, including recent backlash over a New York City subway ad campaign. People destroyed advertisements and wrote messages such as “surveillance capitalism”.

Limitless, formerly known as Rewind, is also a conversation recording pendant that sells for $99.

The device continuously listens and transcribes meetings, calls, and conversations (with consent) into searchable, summarized knowledge. Ideal for professionals, especially journalists, who want to recall important discussions.

This companion app comes with 10 hours of AI features per month, including transcription and summarization, with an option for unlimited features for $29 per month.

Omi

Priced at $89, the device helps you answer questions, summarize conversations, create to-do lists, and schedule meetings. Additionally, Omi constantly listens to and follows your conversations through ChatGPT, remembering context about you and allowing it to provide personalized advice.

Omi can also be worn as a necklace, but another notable feature is that it is attached to the side of your head with medical tape and can detect when you are spoken to.

At $159, Plaud’s NotePin is one of the most expensive options on this list. However, the built-in AI transcription and summarization features make it a valuable tool for lawyers, journalists, and students attending conferences and lectures.

This small wearable voice recorder can be worn on your wrist or attached to your clothing using magnets. Recordings are saved to your phone in real time, saving you the hassle of taking manual notes. The device includes 300 minutes of free transcription time each month, but you can upgrade to 1,200 minutes of transcription time with the Pro plan for $8.33 per month.

The company is gearing up to launch a $179 ultra-thin note-taking device called Plaud Note Pro this year, and it’s available for pre-order now.

Rabbit R1

Rabbit R1 is another AI gadget that is quickly gaining traction in the tech world, despite facing some challenges during its initial launch. This small, retro-style handheld device has a touchscreen and rotating camera and costs $199.

The device is designed to sit next to your smartphone, so you can perform tasks like booking flights, ordering food, and controlling apps without having to take out your phone every time. Following a significant software update that fixed previous performance issues, Rabbit R1 now boasts enhanced AI capabilities. For example, it introduces the “Creations” feature that lets you build your own tools and even games.
