Drake Maye led New England to two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, rallying his team from an 11-point deficit to a 28-24 victory over Baltimore on Sunday night, clinching a postseason berth for the Patriots and dealing a devastating blow to the Ravens’ playoff hopes.
Leading 24-13 in the fourth quarter, May hit Kyle Williams with a 37-yard scoring strike and a two-point conversion pass to Lamondre Stephenson with 9:01 left to make it a three-point game.
After New England forced a punt, the Patriots drove 89 yards and scored the winning touchdown. Baltimore’s pass rush, which was non-existent early in the game, improved considerably towards the end, but Maye showed why he should emerge as an MVP candidate while leading New England (12-3) to first place in the AFC East.
He threw for a career-best 380 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, and veteran receiver Stefon Diggs shined with 138 yards and nine catches. The winning touchdown came on Stephenson’s 21-yard dash with 2:07 left, one of New England’s few productive running plays.
The Ravens, who lost Lamar Jackson to a hip injury in the second quarter, turned the ball over on Zai Flowers’ fumble on their final drive. Baltimore (7-8) is currently two games behind first-place Pittsburgh in the AFC North with two games remaining. To win the division, the Ravens must win at Green Bay and Pittsburgh, and the Steelers, who beat Detroit earlier in the day, must lose to lowly Cleveland in Week 17.

Pittsburgh’s victory put immense pressure on the Ravens, and things got worse when New England took a 10-7 lead and Jackson left late in the second quarter with yet another injury — this time to his back.
Tyler Huntley, who led Baltimore to a big win against Chicago in Week 8 while Jackson was out with a hamstring issue, was instrumental in the Ravens’ recovery. In the third quarter, Flowers scored on an end with 18 yards left to give the Ravens a 17-13 lead. Baltimore then thwarted a fake punt near midfield and took an 11-point lead on Derrick Henry’s 2-yard run with 12:50 left in the fourth.
However, this was the last time Henry touched the ball. A Baltimore team that has often been the same in recent years made another inexplicable decision in a fourth-quarter collapse.
Henry’s 21-yard run gave the Ravens a 7-0 lead, his third first-quarter touchdown in nine home games this season. After Maye was intercepted, Baltimore’s offense was well on its way before Henry fumbled. New England tied it on a 1-yard pass from Maye to Hunter Henry. It was 10-all at halftime.
The Patriots lost Rookie of the Year candidate Trevellon Henderson when the running back left with a head injury in the second quarter.
