AMD Chairman and CEO Lisa Su began her keynote at CES 2026 with a message about what computing can do: AI for everyone.

As part of that promise, AMD announced a new series of AI processors because it believes AI-powered personal computers are the way of the future.

The semiconductor giant unveiled the latest version of its AI-powered PC chips, the AMD Ryzen AI 400 series processors, at its annual CES conference on Monday. According to the company, the latest version of the Ryzen processor series can multitask 1.3 times faster than its competitors and content creation is 1.7 times faster.

These new chips feature 12 CPU cores, separate processing units within the core processor, and 24 threads, independent instruction streams.

This is an upgrade to the Ryzen AI 300 series processors announced in 2024. AMD began producing the Ryzen processor series in 2017.

Rahul Tikoo, AMD’s senior vice president and general manager of client business, said in the company’s recent press conference that AMD has expanded to over 250 AI PC platforms. This represents double growth from last year, he added.

“In the next few years, AI will become multi-layered, embedded at every level of computing at the personal level,” Tikou said. “Our AI PCs and devices will transform the way we work, play, create, and connect with each other.”

AMD also announced the release of the latest version of its gaming-focused processor, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

“AI is reshaping everyday computing, no matter who you are or how you use technology on a daily basis,” Tikoo says. “There are thousands of interactions with PCs every day. AI can understand context, learn, and enable automation to deliver deep inference and personal customization for each individual.”

PCs with Ryzen AI 300 series processors or AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processors will be available in the first quarter of 2026.

The company also announced the latest version of its Redstone ray tracing technology, which simulates the physical behavior of light. This allows you to improve the graphics of your video games without any performance or speed lag.
