Nico Raskin appeared to spray water at Aberdeen fans at full-time in Rangers’ 2-0 win at Pittodrie on Sunday.

The incident occurred as the players were walking through the tunnel after the game. Fans then threw empty cups at the players as they headed to the locker room.

Early in the game, Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandes appeared to be hit by an object from some Aberdeen supporters as players celebrated Thero Asgård’s opening goal.

Rangers manager Danny Rolle said of the incident in his post-match press conference: “We want to play football on the pitch. We want to have a friendly atmosphere and I’m sure you all felt that way today, it’s the same here. It’s a tough situation.”

“I think when we arrived we immediately felt what kind of situation we were in. But we showed the right answers on the pitch and this is what we want.”

Sky Sports has contacted Rangers for comment regarding the Ruskin incident.

Experts condemn the Ruskin scandal

After the game, Chris Boyd told Sky Sports: “He’s probably regretting it by now, but if you’re a footballer you get away with the jeers of the fans.

“Just go home. We won the game, we got the three points, the venue is difficult, so get back on the road.”

Chris Sutton added: “Vaclav Cerny did that last year (against Celtic in March 2025).

“In any case, this is a powder keg of equipment, and this is what we need most. You can’t keep spraying water on the fans. That’s an absolute no-no.”

“There’s going to have to be some kind of punishment, otherwise the players will just keep going.”

Paul Hartley said: “This is a big game between two teams and their fans. He’s got to walk away the bigger man. He could be punished now.”

“He’s an experienced player. He just walked down the tunnel, got the win, put in a good performance and got the three points.”

Explanation of the Cerny incident

Václav Cerny, who spent last season on loan at Rangers, received a formal warning from the Scottish Football Association (SFA) for spraying a Celtic fan with a water bottle as he ran along the touchline to celebrate teammate Hamza Igamane’s 88th-minute winner.

Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incident. However, police concluded that “criminality has not been proven.”
