Alphabet shares jumped about 1% on Monday after Apple announced it had chosen Google’s Gemini as the basis for its artificial intelligence model and next-generation Siri.

Search companies enter the market Nvidia, microsoft and apple As one of the few companies to cross the $4 trillion mark.

Both Nvidia and Microsoft crossed the $4 trillion milestone for the first time in July, and Apple crossed the mark for the first time in October. But since then, Apple and Microsoft have fallen well below the $4 trillion line.

Alphabet’s entry into the elite club comes after the company ended 2025 as one of Wall Street’s top performers. The company’s stock price rose 65% in 2025, Alphabet’s sharpest rise since 2009, when the stock doubled as it emerged from the financial crisis.

The search company has been growing since last year as it geared up for an AI resurgence and overcame major regulatory hurdles. In November, the company announced Ironwood, the seventh generation of its tensor processing unit, a custom AI chip that emerged as a potential replacement for Nvidia products. Then in December, Google announced Gemini 3 to rave reviews.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Sora services have captured increased consumer engagement, and despite concerns swirling about the future of online advertising in a world of AI chatbots and agents, Alphabet has managed to dispel concerns that its most innovative days are behind it.

Analyst Deepak Mathivanan upgraded Alphabet’s stock price in a note dated January 8.

“The technical advantages of the Gemini assistant app, which leverages Google’s ‘grounded’ assets, and ChatGPT (which leverages partner integration with Bing) are underappreciated,” Mathavanan wrote. Google “arguably has the strongest footprint across several layers of the AI technology stack, and the company’s decade-long investment has enabled a deep competitive moat.”

In a recent note, Citi analysts named Google as the Internet’s top pick for 2026. Analysts said 70% of Google Cloud customers use the company’s AI products, adding: “As demand grows, Google has the chips, infrastructure capabilities and models in place.”
