A South Korean court on Friday sentenced former President Yun Seok-yeol to five years in prison on charges including obstructing arrest after failing to impose martial law.
In a live broadcast of the ruling, the Seoul Central District Court announced that Yoon was found guilty of obstructing authorities from executing an arrest warrant related to the declaration of martial law in December 2024.
He was also found guilty of falsifying official documents and failing to comply with legal procedures required under martial law.
The ruling is the first in connection with the criminal charges Yun faces over his failure to declare martial law.
This judgment can be appealed.
