Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari race engineer Riccardo Adami has been moved to a different role with the Italian team for the 2026 season.

Hamilton had a very disappointing debut season with Ferrari in 2025, with the seven-time world champion going the entire season without a Grand Prix podium for the first time in his F1 career.

The 41-year-old struggled to make sense of the underperforming car, while also appearing regularly frustrated and confused in his radio exchanges with Adami, the Briton’s direct contact, on the Ferrari pitwall.

Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz looks at five reasons why Lewis Hamilton struggled in his first season at Ferrari.

In a statement released on Friday, Ferrari said: “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Riccardo Adami has moved to a new role within the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy as Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and Pre-Test Car Manager, where his extensive trackside experience and F1 expertise will contribute to the development of future talent and the strengthening of the performance culture across the program.”

“Scuderia Ferrari HP would like to thank Ricciardo for his dedication and contribution to his trackside role and wish him every success in his new position.

“The appointment of a new race engineer for car No. 44 will be announced shortly.”

Lewis Hamilton takes a jab at Ferrari over team radio during the Miami Grand Prix.

Ferrari is set to reveal its 2026 livery on January 23rd ahead of the first of three pre-season test events, with the first to be held in Barcelona from January 26th to 30th.

Additional tests are planned due to the introduction of new technical regulations that include significant changes to both the engine and chassis.
