Anthropic closed its latest funding round at a valuation of $350 billion, above its original target of $10 billion, CNBC confirmed on Tuesday.

The round closed with a total value of $10 billion to $15 billion, according to three people familiar with the discussions, who requested anonymity because the details are confidential. However, this number may increase further if microsoft and Nvidia People said they decided to donate.

In November, Microsoft and Nvidia announced plans to invest up to $5 billion and $10 billion, respectively, in the artificial intelligence startup. It’s unclear whether they plan to participate in Anthropic’s latest round or how much money they will put into it, the people said.

As previously reported by CNBC, Coatue and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC are leading the funding. Sequoia Capital, an investor in Anthropic’s rival OpenAI, is also participating, the people said.

The Financial Times first reported Anthropic’s oversubscribed funding round.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI research executives, including CEO Dario Amodei. The company is best known for developing a large family of language models called Claude, and its AI coding tool Claude Code has exploded in popularity in recent months.

Amodei told CNBC earlier this month that Anthropic generated nearly $10 billion in revenue last year.
