Resolve AI, a startup that automates the task of system reliability engineering (SRE), or troubleshooting system failures, announced a $125 million Series A at a $1 billion valuation.

The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from existing investors including Greylock Partners, Unusual Ventures, Artisanal Ventures, and A*.

The announcement confirms a December report from TechCrunch that the startup was raising funding led by Lightspeed at a $1 billion valuation.

Sources told TechCrunch at the time that the round may have been made up of multiple tranches at different prices, which could have put the company’s actual overall valuation at less than $1 billion. A Resolve spokesperson denied there were multiple splits in the round, saying 100% of the shares were purchased at a $1 billion valuation.

As we have previously reported, this type of structure allows certain investors (often the lead) to purchase a significant portion of the stock at a lower price.

Resolve was co-founded in early 2024 by former Splunk executives Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal. Their previous startup, Omnition, was acquired by Splunk in 2019.

Another startup that applies AI to identify and resolve outages is Sequoia-backed Traversal. This new category is known as AI SRE.
