figma has partnered with Anthropic to launch a feature called “Code to Canvas” that turns code generated by artificial intelligence tools like Claude Code into fully editable designs within Figma.

This feature creates a bridge between AI coding tools and Figma processes, allowing users who have built work interfaces to direct the AI agent to pull its output directly into the Figma canvas.

There, the team can refine it, compare options side-by-side, and make adjustments on design decisions.

This move reflects a broader view that agent coding tools like Claude Code have not eliminated the need for design, but have made it even more necessary. But the risk is that Figma is building better on-ramps to freeways that it no longer manages.

As AI tools continue to improve, teams may eventually skip the design refinement step altogether.

Anthropic’s products have been at the center of a massive sell-off in software-as-a-service stocks that Wall Street traders have dubbed the “SaaSpocalypse.”

Figma is caught in a downdraft.

Since its IPO last summer, the company’s stock price has fallen dramatically, caught up in a similar sell-off punishing its SaaS business model. The company will release its results after the market closes on Wednesday.

Figma stock is down about 85% from its 52-week high of $142.92 in August.
