Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos arrived at the White House Thursday afternoon for a meeting regarding efforts to acquire part of the company. warner bros discovery — Just before WBD released the following statement: paramount skydanceThe company’s new proposal to acquire the entire company appeared to be an “excellent proposal.”

Sarandos is not scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump, who just days ago demanded that Netflix remove former Obama administration official Susan Rice from its board of directors “or pay the price.”

“This meeting is not a meeting with the president,” a White House official told CNBC.

“Netflix is ​​meeting with staff at the White House,” the person said.

Paramount submitted an enhanced bid to acquire all of WBD’s shares earlier this week.

Shortly after Sarandos arrived at the meeting, WBD issued a statement announcing that its board, “in consultation with independent financial and legal advisors,” determined that Paramount Skydance’s bid “qualifies as a ‘top corporate offer,’ as defined in WBD’s merger agreement with Netflix.”

Netflix currently has four business days to change its bid for the WBD unit it wants to acquire.
