The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday, killing the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iran responded with a series of unprecedented attacks across the Middle East, targeting Israel and several countries that host U.S. military bases, including Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

As the conflict escalates, Israel and Hezbollah are also trading blows.

Both U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have said the primary objective is to protect their respective countries from the immediate threat posed by Iran, most notably to prevent the Islamic regime from acquiring nuclear weapons, without providing evidence that they are close to doing so.

President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu have also made clear their expectations for regime change in Iran. President Trump told Iranians that “the time for freedom is at hand” and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on them to “throw off the yoke of tyranny.”

Here are some articles that went viral last week and photos that caught our eye.
