Facebook Marketplace is rolling out new Meta AI features, including the ability to automatically reply to messages from interested buyers, Facebook announced Thursday. The social network also uses AI to help sellers list products faster, summarize their profiles, and give sellers the option to offer shipping on their listings.
The company says sellers receive a large number of inquiries from buyers, so automatic replies powered by Meta AI make it easier to respond to initial messages. When a buyer inquires about the availability of an item, sellers can now use Meta AI to automatically draft a response using listing information such as description, availability, pick-up location, price, and more. Sellers can enable, preview, and edit these auto-replies when creating a listing.
This new feature is designed to address common pain points for sellers. Merchants often don’t want to spend too much time responding to initial or duplicate messages. For example, asking if a product is available for purchase when it is already marked as available. One seller created his own AI tool last year to respond to initial inquiries from interested buyers.
Facebook Marketplace now allows sellers to list products automatically using Meta AI. After you upload an image of your product, Meta AI will draft a listing, fill in your details, and suggest prices based on similar products in your area.
Additionally, buyers will now see a summary of a seller’s Facebook profile at the top of their marketplace page, including how long they’ve been on Facebook and how many friends they have. The overview also includes an overview of your marketplace activity, including your listing history, the types of products you sell, and seller ratings.
Facebook says sellers can also expand their reach by offering shipping services for their listings. You can also generate prepaid shipping labels and easily track all your orders from a simple dashboard.
The new AI capabilities join Facebook Marketplace’s existing Meta AI integration. This includes tools to help buyers ask the right questions when making a purchase, as well as AI-powered insights for vehicle listings.
