Iran carried out a new attack on Qatar’s main gas hub on Thursday morning local time, causing significant damage as countries around the Middle East reported continued missile and drone attacks.

The attack came after Iran attacked energy infrastructure in Persian Gulf countries, causing a spike in already high global oil prices.

Here’s what you need to know:

Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar’s main energy hub, was hit twice by Iranian missiles within 12 hours, causing “severe damage”. Emergency response teams were responding to the fire at the facility, the world’s largest LNG plant. The Ministry of Defense announced that the location had been hit by a ballistic missile.

In the United Arab Emirates, gas operations at a key energy facility in Abu Dhabi were temporarily suspended after debris from an intercepted missile fell on the facility, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said. The UKMTO also announced that a ship was struck by an “unknown projectile” off the UAE’s east coast, causing a fire.

Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed more than a dozen drones in the country’s east, the Defense Ministry said, adding that some of them were intercepted near the capital Riyadh.

According to Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency, Israel came under attack from several waves of Iranian missiles and drones, and Hezbollah launched simultaneous attacks from Lebanon. The Israeli military announced that it had detected a missile fired from Iran in the north. Hours earlier, Israeli police and rescue teams were called to the scene of an Iranian missile attack in Tel Aviv, police said, adding that there were no reports of injuries or casualties.

Bahrain’s interior ministry said sirens were sounded on two separate occasions and urged people to “head to the nearest safe location”.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society posted a video of what it called an airstrike on a residential area in Tehran, showing rescue workers responding. Meanwhile, the fallout continues after Iranian facilities in the South Pars natural gas field were targeted on Wednesday.
