Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at Harvard University’s Economic Principles class on Monday.

This will be one of Mr. Powell’s final public appearances scheduled before his term ends in May. The discussion comes amid market expectations that the central bank will keep interest rates on hold until the end of the year.

In recent comments, Powell characterized the economy as growing at a “solid pace” and said he was not concerned about concerns of stagflation or slow growth accompanied by high inflation. But he noted that policymakers are taking a cautious approach this year due to multiple factors at play this year, including the Iran war, tariffs and a weak labor market.

Mr. Powell’s term officially ends on May 15, with only one policy meeting remaining during that time. But he could remain in office even longer if the Senate does not approve the nomination of former Gov. Kevin Warsh to replace him.

The nomination is currently pending in the Senate Banking Committee as U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro continues her investigation into renovations at Fed headquarters. A judge has already canceled a subpoena sent to Powell by Pirro’s office, but Powell is appealing the decision.
