OpenAI announced it has acquired technology news podcast TBPN, according to a message shared with employees on Thursday.

TBPN is a daily podcast hosted by John Coogan and Geordie Hayes that covers technology news and features interviews with key technology leaders, including: meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the news.

Fidji Simo, CEO of OpenAI AGI Deployment, wrote in the announcement that OpenAI’s mission to deploy artificial general intelligence comes with the responsibility of having a space for “constructive conversations about the changes AI is creating.”

OpenAI did not disclose the terms of the deal, but said TBPN will fit within its strategic organization.

“We have criticized the industry from time to time, but after getting to know Sam and the OpenAI team, what stood out most was their openness to feedback and commitment to getting this right,” Hayes wrote in a statement. “It is very important for us to move from commentary to real-world impact on how this technology is distributed and understood globally.”

CNBC has reached out to OpenAI for additional comment.

According to the Wall Street Journal, TBPN will generate about $5 million in advertising revenue in 2025 and is expected to surpass $30 million this year.
