York recorded their third Betfred Super League win at the LNER Community Stadium with a hat-trick from Scott Galeano as they defeated compatriots Toulouse 38-14.

The Knights, who had lost their previous five games in all competitions, took an early lead when Paul Vaughan, celebrating his 35th birthday, cut under the posts, but his try into the corner was canceled out as the ball failed to ground out.

But York soon found Vaughan scoring his second of the night and Cody Hunter converting to put the home side up 12-0 after 20 minutes.

Jesse Dee produced a ‘miracle play’ to set up York’s Scott Galeano for an easy try against Toulouse.

Thomas Lakans put Toulouse ahead after the half-hour mark with a quick-footed cut back inside, but Australian winger Galeano darted into the right corner and York went into half-time leading 18-6.

After 55 minutes, York extended their lead even further. Galeano was given the easiest grounder when Jesse Dee chased the kick and hooked the ball bunched up on an advertising board.

Another try from Kieran Buchanan put York firmly in the lead and Hunter’s penalty shortly after the end made it 32-6.

Toulouse, who started last on goal difference behind the Knights, showed great strength to score their second try in the 66th minute when Henry O’Kane was kept in possession by several York players.

York performed well, with Galeano scoring a hat-trick with eight minutes remaining, but Toulouse won late on with a goal from Mathieu Joussaume as the French team suffered their seventh league defeat.

Betfred Super League match highlights between Lee Leopards and Huddersfield Giants.

Two second-half tries from Josh Charnley gave Leigh Leopards a 30-16 win over Huddersfield Giants on Thursday night.

Charnley scored twice to mark his 400th appearance and took his tally of Super League tries to 263, moving him just five away from Ryan Hall’s record.

AJ Towse also contributed two tries on the night, along with one from Innes Senior and a penalty try from Lachlan Lamb.

Huddersfield’s tries came courtesy of Adam Swift, Taan Milne and Jacob Gagai.

The Giants remain at the bottom of the table with Toulouse with four points, but Lee has moved up to eighth place.
