Jon Rahm now free to play in Ryder Cup after paying outstanding fine, agrees to deal to play on DP World Tour Golf News

Jon Rahm will return to playing on the circuit this season after reaching a conditional release agreement with the DP World Tour, with the Spaniard agreeing to settle all outstanding fines.

DP World Tour confirmed that as part of the deal, Rahm will be required to pay all outstanding fines, believed to be approximately $3 million, from 2024 to the present.

The news means the Spaniard has now qualified for the 2027 Ryder Cup to be held at Adare Manor.

“The DP World Tour and Jon Rahm have reached an agreement on a conditional release to compete in LIV Golf’s competitive tournaments for the remainder of the 2026 season,” a DP World Tour spokesperson said in a statement.

“This includes payment of all outstanding fines accrued from 2024 to date and participation in agreed DP World Tour tournaments (non-majors) for the remainder of the 2026 season.”

Rahm said both sides had “made concessions” as part of the agreement.

The news comes after the European Ryder Cup player announced in March that he had withdrawn his appeal against sanctions imposed by the DP World Tour for playing in the rival LIV Golf League.

Last week, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it would cut funding to segregated golf leagues after the end of the 2026 season.

“The large investment required is no longer consistent with the fund’s future investment strategy,” PIF said in a statement Thursday.

More to come…
