Frank Warren says Tyson Fury should have a preliminary fight ahead of his November showdown with Anthony Joshua.

British rivals Joshua and Fury will finally face off in the long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown.

Joshua has a tune-up contest set for July 25th in Riyadh with Albania’s Christian Prenga, and Fury himself is supposed to have another preliminary fight, but it’s not on the same bill.

“That’s not happening,” Fury’s promoter Warren told Sky Sports News.

Fury, who announced his retirement early last year, returned to beat Arslanbek Mahmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

After his first win in the UK since 2022, he demanded an immediate showdown with Joshua.

Tyson Fury grabbed a microphone and loudly challenged him to fight Anthony Joshua next, but his rival didn’t give him a clear answer.

But Joshua first needs a comeback fight at a lower level after recovering from a serious car accident that killed two of his closest friends.

Fury also wants to remain active in preparation for his fight with Joshua, which is scheduled for late 2026.

“He wants another fight and he doesn’t want to wait. Otherwise he’ll be out of the ring again for almost eight months and he doesn’t want that,” Warren said.

“He wants to keep busy so we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.

“I think[Joshua’s]fight will take place in November, hopefully in England.”
