Luke Littler has revealed he is currently “not training” despite winning three consecutive Premier League darts trots, adding that he feels he is catching up to rivals Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.
Littler beat Humphries 6-5 in the 14th night final at Leeds on Thursday for a record sixth win of the 2026 Premier League season, completing a hat-trick in the win on the night.
The 19-year-old beat Johnny Clayton 6-5 in the semi-final, and also edged out Van Gerwen in Thursday’s quarter-final by an equally narrow 6-5 margin.
Nuke’s win tonight came a week after defeating Humphries by the same 6-5 scoreline on Night 13 in Aberdeen.
“I’ve said it for years, I always end up setting myself back on the last leg,” Littler said.
“I just say to myself, ‘Do or die, I have to hit.’ And that’s what I did. Like last week, with Luke (Humphries), his worst leg was his last leg. But yeah, another win on the night.”
“Obviously it always feels good to take a big shot. The shot with Michael (van Gerwen) was probably the biggest shot I’ve taken this year (141 checkout in the fifth leg). It was good to see Michael fighting again. And to get past Johnny (Clayton) and to get past Luke, I think the next two weeks are going to be very interesting so I’ll be watching as well.”
“Obviously it’s helped me that I’ve beaten them (Humphries, Van Gerwen) so many times over the years in final-leg matches. In their head they might be thinking, ‘Wait a minute, it’s me playing Luke Littler in another final-leg match.’
“I might have already beaten them before that leg started. Since my JDC (Junior Darts Corporation) days, I’ve always backed myself up and I think I’m very good in the deciding leg.”
“Whether we beat them easily or on the last leg is always in our minds.
“Obviously, my record with Gaethje (Garwen Price) is pretty even, me and Michael as well, me and Luke (Humphries) beat each other all the time. But if we keep winning week in and week out, it gives me a lot of confidence and I know that the next time they play me they have to do better.”
Littler’s preparations were severely disrupted on Thursday night, when he arrived at the venue an hour before his quarter-final match against Van Gerwen due to traffic jams.
Still, the two-time world champion managed to push through and win three more times. And he did so despite the fact that he is currently not practicing.
“I think he’s playing really well,” Littler said. “The last three weeks have been a series of wins and it’s all down to me and proper preparation.
“When I’m at home, I can say I don’t practice much, but that’s what I do. I’ll come here and if I have a few hours, I’ll be on stage producing.
“I think the most wins per night is definitely something to aim for. It’s a long night with three games, but I’ve done it many times before. Hopefully I can break my record.”
“I think it’s always going to happen (boos) and that’s what I have to do, just keep winning and keep winning. In the end, I hope they get tired of me because nothing is going right. Since Rotterdam, there have been a few boos, even tonight, but nothing will ever top that. I think now I can fight no matter what.”
