US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the US ceasefire with Iran has ended after hostilities between the two countries escalated overnight.
“I think it’s over,” President Trump said Wednesday in response to a reporter’s question during a joint press conference with NATO chief Mark Rutte at the military alliance summit in Ankara, Turkey.
“I don’t want anything to do with them anymore…As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” he added.
President Trump said the U.S. delegation wants to negotiate a peace deal but believes negotiations with Iran are a “waste of time.”
President Trump’s comments came after the United States and Iran accused each other of violating the cease-fire agreement they agreed to last month following the new attacks.
The US military on Tuesday carried out a “series of powerful attacks” against Iran in retaliation for attacks on three commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Central Command said in a post on X on Tuesday that the US military had struck more than 80 targets, including air defense systems, command and control networks, and anti-ship missile capabilities.
It added that more than 60 small Revolutionary Guard ships were attacked to reduce Iran’s ability to attack international commerce.
