Recent attacks have put the ceasefire and memorandum of understanding at risk.
US President Donald Trump this week declared an end to the agreement suspending the war with Iran and ordered a series of attacks.
He accused Iranian forces of violating the ceasefire by attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian government reacted quickly, targeting U.S. interests in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
The escalation is the worst since the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding last month.
It was intended to pave the way for further negotiations and a permanent agreement to end the war.
Regional mediators are currently working to ease tensions.
But does diplomacy still have a chance?
