Music streamer Deezer says more than 50% of its daily uploads are generated by AI

Music streaming company Deezer has been tracking the number of AI-generated tracks uploaded to its platform since last year, and that number continues to grow. The company announced today that AI music now accounts for more than 50% of downloads.

Deezer said AI-generated track uploads will peak in June 2026, equating to an average of 90,000 tracks per day per month.

The rapid rise of AI-generated music is forcing streaming services to decide how much music to put on their platforms. There is still no single consensus on this point. Some have taken strict measures, such as Bandcamp banning such tracks and Tidal cutting off monetization. Meanwhile, Apple Music has a voluntary AI tagging system, and Spotify has developed its own policy on how much AI is used in music production.

Deezer’s latest moves on this front include removing AI-generated tracks that have not been streamed in the past six months or have engaged in fraudulent streaming to increase revenue.

“For almost two years, Deezer has been at the forefront of fighting fraud and reducing payment dilution associated with AI music. Now, half of the songs uploaded every day are AI-generated tracks, so we’re taking additional steps to protect the rights of artists and songwriters while focusing on the music that fans actually love,” Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a statement.

The streamer first published statistics on AI music uploads in January 2025, when the daily upload volume was around 10,000 tracks, or 10% of daily uploads. In April 2025, that number increased to 20,000 tracks, accounting for 18% of daily uploads. It then increased to 30,000 tracks in September 2025, or 28% of daily uploads, followed by 50,000 tracks, or 34% of daily uploads, in November 2025.

This year, it increased again to 60,000 tracks in January 2026, or 39% of daily uploads. As of April 2026, this number reached 75,000 tracks, or 44% of daily uploads.

Deezer started AI music labeling on its platform last year, saying its detection technology can also identify tracks generated by models from AI music startups Suno and Udio, which are embroiled in copyright lawsuits. Earlier this year, Deezer made its detection technology available to other platforms, but it’s not yet clear whether any of the major platforms are using the tool. Last month, it also released a tool that lets you filter AI-generated songs from Apple Music and Spotify playlists.
