U.S. stock futures fell early Thursday as investors factored in new profits, concerns about artificial intelligence spending and rising oil prices.

futures The index fell 43 points, or 0.1%, in line with the Dow Jones Industrial Average. S&P500 futures down 0.2%, Nasdaq 100 futures It fell 0.2%.

alphabet Shares fell 3% in after-hours trading after Google’s parent company cited strong demand for artificial intelligence and raised its 2026 capital spending forecast to as much as $205 billion. The increase comes as investors have become more cautious about spending on hyperscalers’ AI efforts in recent months.

“Without the abundance of positive earnings in the way, investor attention has been drawn back to the war,” said Hardika Singh, economic strategist at Fundstrat. “Those who previously thought oil prices had peaked are now being forced to start their inflation calculations from scratch. Pricing power is now more important than ever for companies to seek returns for investors.”

On Thursday, investors are expecting another busy earnings day. Dow Air, American Airlines, T-Mobile, Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern are on the deck in front of the bell. Intel plans to report after the market closes.

Weekly unemployment claims numbers are released at 8:30 a.m. ET.
