Pro-Israel Trump ally meets with Ukrainian president who claims Russia is helping Iran kill American soldiers.

Laura Loomer, an American far-right activist and close ally of President Donald Trump, met and interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, reversing years of hostility toward the country.
Loomer said he interviewed Zelensky on his show on the social media platform Rumble on Thursday after telling X’s roughly 2 million followers that repeating Russian propaganda was a mistake.

Right-wing commentators said they didn’t care if Republicans opposed to Ukraine disowned her. “We will see how evil Russia is as it continues to fund Iran with weapons to kill American soldiers who are calling for the assassination of President Trump,” he said in a social media post.
Trump shared a preview of the interview, labeling it “so good!!!” Hours later, he said in a post on social media site Truth Social.
Loomer has long opposed U.S. aid to Kiev, including calling Ukraine corrupt and full of “Nazi apologists,” accusations Russia has used to justify a full-scale invasion of its neighbor in 2022.
She also called Zelenskiy, who met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, an “apologist for jihadism.”
On Tuesday, President Zelenskiy’s office welcomed the visit, saying: “It is really important for[Rumer]to be in Ukraine and see things as they really are with his own eyes.”
Loomer calls himself a “proud Islamophobe” and frequently attacks Islam and Muslim figures on social media platforms. She is also an ardent supporter of Israel and Trump’s deportation policies.
Although she has no official role in the Trump administration, she has a close personal relationship with the president, according to US media reports. She was granted a Pentagon press credential last year.
She also claimed involvement in the detention of Sami Hamdi, a British journalist critical of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, whose US visa was revoked in October 2025.
“Fortunately, his only fate is to be arrested and deported,” she wrote.
After two gunmen killed three people at a San Diego mosque in May, Loomer doubled down on his anti-Muslim rhetoric, saying immigration authorities should investigate targeted Islamic centers.
She also called for all Muslims to be expelled from the United States as an “invasive species.”
In April 2026, she reported to the State Department an Iranian national allegedly the niece of late Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani, leading to the revocation of the woman’s U.S. residency.
The meeting between Mr Zelensky and Mr Loomer could have important implications for relations between the US administration and Kiev.
President Trump and some of his allies have long expressed skepticism about U.S. aid to Ukraine, particularly during President Joe Biden’s tenure.
The current US administration is pressing for a resolution to the war. President Trump had promised to end the conflict on his first day in office, but diplomatic efforts, including several calls and meetings with Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, have yet to lead to a breakthrough.
