President Trump is scheduled to visit South Carolina on Friday to make a last-minute appeal to Sen. Darling Graham, his choice to replace his brother, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham. Republican runoff election next week.
Voters will decide between Mr. Graham and the congressman on Tuesday. ralph norman He will be the Republican candidate on the November ballot.
The Myrtle Beach rally is a campaign-like occasion that President Trump has held less of this year than in past midterm elections, and a sign of the importance he places on winning the election.
It is also an opportunity for the president to step into friendly territory ahead of the midterm elections, when his party’s control of Congress is at stake. South Carolina hasn’t elected a statewide Democratic representative in decades, with only one Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Trump’s own victory in the 2016 presidential primary helped propel him to the state’s nomination and ultimately to the White House.
