With our long-time partner OpenAI microsoft Both companies indicated they had suffered major product outages on Monday, but there were no related reports.

OpenAI said its enterprise artificial intelligence agent, ChatGPT Work, has been experiencing increased errors and delays for about three hours. Microsoft said there was a problem with Exchange Online.

“Users across multiple subscription plans may be unable to start or continue tasks in ChatGPT Work,” OpenAI said on its status page. “We continue to work towards implementing mitigation measures.”

As of 2:24 p.m. ET Monday, more than 1,100 users had reported issues with OpenAI’s product on the defect tracking website Downdetector. For Microsoft Outlook, the number immediately followed was closer to 4,600. Both peaked a little earlier in the day.

In a post to X, OpenAI’s ChatGPT account wrote, “ChatGPT Work is currently not working. We’re sorry, we’re working on a fix!”

In July, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work, an enterprise agent that competes directly with Anthropic’s Claude Cowork. The agent is designed to help staff tackle more “ambitious tasks” such as creating sophisticated slides, web apps, sheets, documents and running other complex projects.

Microsoft invested an initial $1 billion in OpenAI in 2019, giving the software giant an early foothold in AI three years before the launch of ChatGPT. That investment has since grown to $13 billion as the strategic relationship has deepened, but these days the two companies compete on multiple fronts.

“We have confirmed that users may experience reduced functionality in various features of Exchange Online,” Microsoft said through its 365 Status account. “We are reviewing service telemetry and diagnostic data to determine the cause of the issue.”
