Apple’s Ternus era begins as Nvidia bets on the entire AI stack

The Ternus era has officially arrived at Apple.

Tim Cook stepped down as CEO this week, handing over the company to former hardware chief John Ternas. The initial memo promised a “big launch next week,” but this is the perfect time to put Apple’s next iPhone event on the table before you settle down. But Cook hasn’t gone very far. He remains executive chairman, focusing on the kind of policy relationships that have recently turned something as small as a map label into a very public balancing act. All this raises an obvious question. What will Ternus’ time look like, and how much rope will shareholders give him to figure it out?
In this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, hosts Kirsten Korosec and Sean O’Kane unpack what Ternus is facing right now, why he’s actually better positioned to advance in software than hardware in this new AI era, and other news of the week.
