Here are some companies that are making headlines in intraday trading. Stryker – The medical device maker fell more than 7% after management said Stryker’s peripheral vascular business is suffering from supply constraints and is expected to experience headwinds in the third and fourth quarters of this year. Amgen – The biotech stock fell almost 10%. Rival Novartis’ cholesterol drug peracalcen fell short in a closely watched study. That lowered traders’ expectations for Amgen’s olpasilan ahead of late-stage data expected in 2027 or early 2028. BMO Capital Markets also downgraded Amgen due to market performance, but kept its price target at $450, suggesting an upside of only 3%. Qualcomm – The chipmaker soared 4%. Qualcomm has entered into a data center infrastructure partnership with Amazon Web Services. As part of the deal, Qualcomm announced it had issued warrants to Amazon to buy 25 million shares for $4 billion. Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure – Stocks of companies involved in building AI soared after OpenAI released its GPT-6 Astra large-scale language model late last week. CoreWeave rose about 15%, while photonics stocks Lumentum and Coherent rose 12% and 9%, respectively. Fiber-optic provider Corning and AI Cloudplay Nevius each rose 10%. Travel stocks — Stocks of travel and lodging companies fell as gasoline futures rose. Expedia Group and Booking Holdings fell 6% and 5%, respectively. TripAdvisor and Airbnb fell about 3%. Gasoline futures for October delivery were recently up about 2%. Roivant Sciences — Shares rose about 20% after the drug company announced that results from a Phase 2 study of its Pulmovant company’s mosliciguat demonstrated a “clinically meaningful and statistically significant placebo-adjusted reduction in pulmonary vascular resistance” in patients with pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease. Lockheed Martin — The defense contractor added about 3% after UBS upgraded Lockheed from neutral to buy, saying its revenue growth potential was undervalued. Novartis — The Swiss drugmaker fell 13% after Phase 3 results showed its drug derdesirane did not provide significant improvement in patients with type 1 myotonic dystrophy. The results are the company’s third disappointing drug trial in a week. Peloton Interactive — The stock price fell more than 5% after Morgan Stanley lowered its investment recommendation from equal weight to underweight. “PTON faces structural headwinds on the fitness front,” the investment bank said. Boston Scientific — The medical device maker fell 5% after BSX said a recent cyberattack could hurt its 2026 sales and profit targets. Bloom Energy – The fuel cell maker soared 10% ahead of its entry into the S&P 500 on September 21st. Bloom has benefited greatly from building AI data centers. The company’s stock price has nearly tripled this year, soaring about 190%. Quantum Computing Stocks – The quantum computing sector rallied after the US agreed to take minority stakes in several companies as part of the $300 million CHIPS Act deal. Investments will be made in D-Wave Quantum, Rigetti Computing, and Quantinuum. D-Wave rose more than 7%, Rigetti rose 4% and Quantinuum added 3%. —CNBC’s Christina Cheddar Berk, Nick Wells and Darla Mercado contributed to this report.
