Shipt, the same-day delivery platform owned by Target, is the latest delivery app to join the AI cart race. The company announced Wednesday that its new “Ask Shipt” tool will help customers shop more intuitively, turning prompts into customized, ready-to-buy carts.

With this release, Shipt joins a growing list of delivery platforms that are incorporating AI assistants into their apps. Just this morning, Instacart announced a new AI-powered grocery shopping assistant called Clementine. Uber Eats and DoorDash also introduced similar AI assistants this year.

Users can ask Shipt to do things like, “Create me a 25-person cart for a Saturday tailgate and fill it with some brunch items,” or “Create me a cart for quick school lunches and after-school snacks.”

Upload a photo of a dish you’ve seen online or at a restaurant, and the assistant will identify all the ingredients and add them to your cart. Additionally, users can ask for ideas based on their budget, such as weeknight meals for a family of five for under $35.

The release of this tool follows other AI features recently added to Target.com, including AI-powered photo search, summaries of customer reviews, and other personalized shopping experiences.

Ask Shipt is currently available on the Shipt app and Shipt.com.
