Check out the companies making the biggest pre-market moves: Chip stocks — Major chip stocks fell in pre-market trading after leaders in the artificial intelligence space, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, called for a slowdown in the development of AI capabilities. Intel fell nearly 6%, Marvell Technology fell more than 7.4% and Advanced Micro Devices fell more than 5%. Energy stocks — The State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) rose more than 1.2% ahead of the rally as oil prices rose earlier in the week amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Diamondback Energy, APA, Marathon Petroleum and EOG Resources led the gains, each rising 2%. Cybersecurity stocks — The group rose broadly as concerns about the safety of AI grew after CEOs Elon Musk, Dario Amodei and Sam Altman warned that the technology was moving too fast. Palo Alto Networks rose more than 4% and CrowdStrike rose 5.4%. AI Infrastructure Stocks — Hewlett Packard Enterprise shares fell more than 7% after CEOs Elon Musk, Dario Amodei and Sam Altman expressed concerns about AI development and safety. Shares in IT solutions provider Super Microcomputer also fell by more than 5%. Affirmation — The stock rose more than 2.1% after Wolfe Research upgraded the stock to Outperform.
