Here are some companies that are making headlines in intraday trading. SpaceX — Shares fell 2% a day after Elon Musk’s rocket maker announced it was pushing back Starship’s scheduled launch date to Sept. 28. Earlier this week, the company announced it was targeting September 22nd. Peers Rocket Lab and Intuitive Machines each fell more than 5%. Chip stocks — Stocks of chip companies rose on Friday, with the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) up about 0.6% and on track for a fourth straight day of wins. Applied Materials stock rose 4%, Lam Research stock rose 5% and Broadcom stock rose more than 2%. Memory chip stocks also rose, with SanDisk stock up 7% and Seagate Technology stock up 4%. Steel Dynamics, Nucor — Shares of both steelmakers fell after they released third-quarter profit guidance that showed weaker-than-expected results compared to analysts surveyed based on FactSet consensus estimates. Nucor said profits in its steel mills and steel products divisions are expected to increase, while profits in its raw materials division are expected to decline. Steel Dynamics shares fell more than 4%, and Nucor shares last traded 6% lower. Netflix — The streamer’s stock fell about 5% after Wells Fargo downgraded the stock to underweight. Analysts at the bank said worrying engagement trends and weak content expected to be released in the second half of 2026 will lead to lower profit growth in 2027 and 2028. Xenon Pharmaceuticals — Shares fell 30% after the company announced it would pause enrollment of new patients in clinical studies of its drugs to treat major depression and bipolar depression. The suspension, which is expected to be temporary, was introduced after studies found neuropsychiatric side effects. Cryptocurrency stocks — After Bitcoin surpassed $80,000, stocks of companies exposed to cryptocurrencies rose, rising about 6% in recent trading. Shares of trading platforms Robinhood and Coinbase rose 8% and 11%, respectively, while shares of cryptocurrency treasury firm Strategy rose 12%. Macom Technology Solutions — Shares rose 4% as BMO Capital Markets outperformed the stock. Analysts said Macomb’s valuation, down more than 35% from its 2026 high, has become attractive even though fundamentals in its data center, industrial and defense businesses remain strong. —CNBC’s Nick Wells and Darla Mercado contributed reporting.
