“Using the word artificial makes intelligence fake… It’s not fake. In fact, it’s amazing.”
U.S. President Donald Trump’s keynote speech at the United Nations General Assembly called for AI to be renamed “super intelligence.”
His support for allowing AI (or superintelligence) to develop at a winning pace comes as his global peers seek to reach agreement on safety rules for powerful technologies.
Later Wednesday, President Trump is scheduled to greet Chinese President Xi Jinping at an arrival ceremony ahead of a state visit on Thursday, with AI being one of the key talking points between the two superpowers.
speed and safety
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic boss Dario Amodei are scheduled to address the UN Security Council later on Wednesday. Clément Delang, CEO of Hugging Face, will also be in attendance to discuss AI safety and regulation.
The appearance follows calls to slow the breakneck pace of the Model Frontier, with President Trump warning of what he called a “hoax” and a “fraud.”
Frontier FOMO
Investors were optimistic as tech stocks rose on Tuesday, sending the Nasdaq to new highs. The tech-heavy index hit an intraday high and set a record closing price.
Futures were flat in early trading on Wednesday as handovers from Asia were largely positive.
oil vibration
Oil prices are falling on Wednesday following news that US officials held “very good talks” with an Iranian delegation on the sidelines of a United Nations meeting.
President Trump said the talks with officials lasted about three hours. Earlier, in a speech at the United Nations, he said he was making “big decisions” about whether to reach a deal with Tehran or “annihilate” Iran.
According to regional media reports, Iran has communicated conditions to end its seven-month war with the United States through Qatari intermediaries.

Anthropic and OpenAI roll out cheaper models in first release amid calls for slowdown
Anthropic and OpenAI each announced new low-cost artificial intelligence models on Tuesday, as both frontier institutes continue to face stiff competition from cheaper, open-market competitors.
OpenAI introduced additional tiers to the GPT-6 family, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, reducing API prices by 50% compared to the promotional price of GPT-5.6.
Astra’s underlying Sol is aimed at more complex workloads such as coding, while the company’s Luna product is aimed at “high-volume tasks” such as information extraction and document summarization, the company wrote.
Anthropic on Tuesday announced the Claude Opus 5.5, the latest release in the new Claude 5.5 model family.
