CNBC’s Jim Cramer said Thursday that this week’s turmoil in artificial intelligence stocks is a stark reminder of why investors shouldn’t put all their money into the market’s hottest trades.

AI infrastructure stocks have led the market for months, but investors who have maintained exposure to other sectors are finally realizing the benefits of diversification, Cramer said. On Thursday, kimberly clark 4.7% increase, waste management rose 3.9%, Eli Lilly It increased by 3.6%. All three stocks rose at least 6% for the week. of iShares Semiconductor ETF Meanwhile, SOXX recorded an eight-day losing streak, its longest losing streak in more than a decade.

“We don’t talk about diversification enough, and part of the reason is because it’s not fun when one group continues to outperform the rest of the market,” the “Mad Money” host said. “But when that group collapsed in recent weeks, only diversification could save the portfolio.”

Kramer pointed to the CNBC Investment Club Charitable Trust as an example. On September 1, the Portfolio terminated its position in AI Beneficiary. corningthe next day it acquired Kimberly-Clark, the parent company of Huggies, to reduce its exposure to data center deals. The move initially seemed premature as Corning continued to rise and Kimberly-Clark declined, but recent rotations have begun to justify the decision.

“Corning is rolling over while Kimberly-Clark takes off,” Kramer said. Corning’s stock price has fallen nearly 5% since leaving the club. The club has added to Kimberly-Clark multiple times to reduce its cost base and has unrealized losses of less than 1%. The stock is up more than 10% from its October 1 low.

Kramer acknowledged that it’s unclear how long the rotation away from AI will last. But he warned that investors who concentrate too much on one sector could incur losses and exit the market altogether.

“If you get too focused, you can blow out and give up on the entire asset class,” he said.

Cramer’s Charitable Trust owns stock in INTC, KMB, LLY, and NVDA.
