shares of Choshin Memory TechnologiesCXMT fell 6.5% on Monday, despite the company on Friday expecting a sharp deterioration in profitability for the first nine months of 2026.

CXMT said in a filing on Friday that it expects net profit attributable to shareholders to be between 131 billion yuan ($19.58 billion) and 132.5 billion yuan in the January-September period, a reversal from a net loss of 5.28 billion yuan in the same period last year, according to a Google translation of the filing.

The company expects sales to be approximately 265 billion to 270 billion yuan, an increase of 232.9 billion to 237.9 billion yuan from the same period last year.

According to the filing, the company attributed this rapid improvement to the rapid increase in demand for AI computing power from the second half of 2025 onwards, which pushed up the global DRAM market, leading to supply shortages and significant price increases.

CXMT has established itself in the global memory chip market, challenging existing players such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology.

Chinese chipmakers accounted for 10% of global DRAM sales in the third quarter of 2026, up from 5% a year earlier, according to data from Counterpoint Research last month.
