Anthropic on Wednesday announced a preview of Claude Duet, an artificial intelligence agent that is likely to rival OpenAI’s Dots and Meta’s Muse products.
Claude Duet is designed for small businesses and professionals, Anthropic said. You can send daily summaries to users, monitor connected apps, and perform various tasks such as building dashboards, scheduling meetings, and creating financial forecasts.
“It comes to you with things that need your attention, completes the tasks you requested, continues to function when you leave, and asks you for confirmation before acting on your behalf,” Anthropic said in a blog post.
It debuts as a competing product from. meta And OpenAI is starting to gain real traction among users. Meta’s Muse, which the company touts as a “personal AI agent,” launched last month and rocketed to the top of the world. apple’s App store. OpenAI announced dots, its “always-on agent,” a few weeks later at its annual developer conference.
While Meta has primarily sold agents to consumers, OpenAI’s products span both enterprise and consumer markets. Anthropic said Wednesday that the Claude Duet is primarily designed for workplaces, so it’s “not very powerful” for personal errands like booking tickets.
Anthropic and OpenAI have long been bitter rivals, spending much of the last year releasing competing models and competing for enterprise market share. Meanwhile, Meta is revamping its AI strategy and pouring billions into new efforts to compete on the frontier. With the rise of individual agents, Meta wants to capitalize on that momentum.
Meta reported third-quarter earnings after the bell Wednesday, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg told analysts that more than 10 million people in the U.S. and Canada have “created a Muse personal agency” in the past month and a half. Muse’s early success helped Meta finish September with its best month on Wall Street since 2022.
Anthropic said Wednesday that Claude Duet is still in its early stages and “it is possible that we may misread the thread or misjudge the urgency.”
The company opened a waiting list for Claude Duet on Wednesday and said eligible users will be able to access it through a standalone app or the Claude website. Claude Duet is available to Pro and Max subscribers during the preview period.
