space x That’s what I said all Friday google Executive Donald Harrison has resigned from the rocket maker’s board of directors.
Harrison has been with Google since 2005, serving as the search giant’s president of global partnerships and corporate development. SpaceX said in a regulatory filing that “Mr. Harrison’s decision to resign is not due to any disagreement with the company on any issue regarding the company’s operations, policies or practices.”
SpaceX thanked Harrison for his “many contributions and years of dedicated and distinguished service” to the company.
The announcement comes about five months after SpaceX’s largest IPO in history. Google’s parent company Alphabet maintains a close relationship with SpaceX and invested in Elon Musk’s company in 2015, when it was valued at about $12 billion.
Alphabet is currently SpaceX’s largest institutional investor, with a stake worth $74 billion as of Friday’s close. SpaceX’s current market capitalization is approximately $1.8 trillion.
Google is a major SpaceX customer, agreeing to pay the company’s AI division up to $920 million a month for computing power at its data centers in the Memphis, Tennessee, area. The two companies also recently collaborated to launch a Google AI chip into orbit through Project Suncatcher.
“While Don is stepping down from the board, we remain deep supporters of SpaceX’s mission and are excited to continue our long-standing partnership,” Google said in an emailed statement.
