President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that the United States had carried out a “small attack” on Iran, amid reports that two missiles had landed on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Friday that a missile had struck the island, according to Reuters. According to Reuters, Tasnim said there was no official information on the damage.

The island is located off Iran’s southern coast, near the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil and gas artery that became a flashpoint in the war.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” President Trump told reporters Friday night after landing in West Palm Beach, Florida, without commenting specifically about Qeshm.

But, he added, “We make a light attack and it gets destroyed. They set up a little anti-aircraft device and we destroyed it in about 15 minutes, maybe five minutes.” He did not specifically confirm whether he was referring to the reported attack on Qeshm Island.

The strikes are the first since Tuesday’s midterm elections, with analysts and local officials debating whether the vote would lead Trump to further escalation or a diplomatic overhaul.

The United States attacked the same island on Monday, but a U.S. official told MS Now it was a “defensive measure.”

“They very much want an agreement.”

President Trump told reporters on Friday that Iran “very much wants a deal. Iran has 300% inflation. The navy is gone. The airport is gone, everything is gone. And they want a deal.”

In a report released on October 13, the International Monetary Fund predicted that consumer prices in Iran would rise by an average of 78.6% in 2026.

Asked if he wanted to reach a deal “really soon,” Trump said, “Well, no one’s going to get hurt, no one’s going to get killed.

“You know, this is a war, and we may have been there for seven months, but we probably fought for three or four weeks, we really fought. And again, look at World War I, that’s a war. World War II, that’s a war.”

Iran said it wanted more than “commitments on paper” from the United States before entering a new phase of diplomatic negotiations.

According to Press TV, Ali Bagheri Qani, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council for National Security, told state broadcaster IRIB on Friday that “we have to see practical measures by the American side.”
