Palantir on Thursday announced a partnership with Lumen Technologies that will see the carrier leverage the data management company’s AI software to build capabilities to support enterprise AI services.

The companies are calling the deal a “multi-year, multi-million dollar strategic partnership,” but Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, reported that Lumen intends to spend more than $200 million on Palantir’s technology over the next few years.

The deal will see Lumen integrate Palantir’s Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) with its own edge computing, broadband infrastructure, and other digital services.

The partnership comes as Lumen seeks to transform from a traditional communications provider to a more modern technology infrastructure business. In September, the company announced it was “working with” Palantir to integrate Palantir’s foundry and AI software and services into its operations, finance and technology functions “to rapidly transform our networks and services.”

Lumen did not confirm the transaction amount, but company spokesperson Joe Good told TechCrunch in an email that the company’s use of Palantir’s technology was a “significant contribution” to achieving $350 million in cost savings in 2025. He added that what the two companies learned during the partnership influenced the decision to partner in the enterprise market. Lumen has pledged to cut costs by $1 billion by 2027 and is already ahead of schedule.

“Palantir has demonstrated that its Foundry and AIP platforms can unlock Lumen data faster and cheaper than traditional data lake migrations, and together we are pursuing solutions that help large enterprises do the same,” said Goode.

For Palantir, this is the latest in a long series of deals in which it has partnered with companies and government agencies across all sectors to sell AI products and services. Including the Lumen deal, Palantir has signed 19 partnerships this year alone across aviation, medical, communications, contract management, data management, defense and other sectors.

“By bringing AI to real-world operations through a connected ecosystem, we are empowering companies to reinvent the way they operate, compete, and grow,” Lumen Technologies CEO Kate Johnson said in a statement.

Palantir did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
