Hull KR will host NRL Premiers Brisbane Broncos as the Betfred World Club Challenge returns in 2026 after a one-year hiatus.
Fresh off a historic 2025 season as first-time Super League champions, Willie Peters’ side will take on the NRL Grand Final winners for global supremacy in the annual cross-hemisphere battle on February 19.
The match will be played at the MKM Stadium as Hull host the Betfred World Club Challenge for the first time.
Hull KR will also face an Australian opponent for the first time in 40 years as the Robins and Broncos battle it out to be crowned the best rugby league club team in the world.
The mouth-watering Clash of the Champions will see Mikey Lewis, Jez Litten and Elliot Minchella take on some of Queensland’s best players, including Australia’s Rhys Walsh and Pat Carrigan.
Hull KR Chief Executive Paul Lakin said: “We have received offers from all over the world to host matches and we are delighted to be able to bring the World Club Challenge to Hull, giving supporters in Hull, across the region and beyond the opportunity to watch two of the world’s best rugby league teams compete.”
“With the first round of our Super League title defense and a trip to Las Vegas for the ‘Battle of Yorkshire’ one week after the World Club Challenge, February promises to be the most exciting month in the club’s illustrious history as we take the Robins onto the world stage.”
Brisbane Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said: “We’re delighted to be hosting the World Club Challenge again next year as we kick off the rugby league calendar.”
“This is a great opportunity to showcase Brisbane Broncos on the world stage and test ourselves against English champions Hull KR. Our players and staff are determined to represent Brisbane and our members in the best way possible and bring home another trophy.”
“It will be special to bring the club back to England. Hull KR has an incredibly passionate fan base and we are looking forward to experiencing that atmosphere and the challenge it brings.”
Betfred boss Fred Dunn added: “At Betfred, we have a real passion for rugby league, so we’re delighted to be re-engaging with these two grand final winners alongside the Betfred World Club Challenge.”
