While some parts of the technology industry are experiencing a major uptick from the AI boom, HubSpot is in a corner of the market that is hurting as investors worry about the impact AI will have on the future of business. The company’s stock has fallen 34% this year, compared with a 22% rise for the Nasdaq, according to LSEG, and analysts expect revenue growth to slow this year and again in 2026.
Like other cloud software companies, HubSpot is bringing AI to its business and trying to convince Wall Street that the technology is poised to become a catalyst for efficiency and expansion.
“Clara is an outstanding leader with a deep understanding of both the transformative potential of AI and the realities of how go-to-market teams operate,” HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan said in a release Wednesday. “Her experience in building and scaling AI products from foundational modeling platforms to customer-facing applications will be invaluable as HubSpot continues to embed AI across our customer platforms.”
Prior to becoming CEO of Salesforce AI starting in 2023, Mr. Shih led the company’s Service Cloud division. So she launched Einstein GPT and Agentforce, an AI agent developer platform, to extend generative AI capabilities.
Previously, Mr. Shih co-founded Hearsay Social in 2009 and served as CEO until 2020, when he transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman.
“HubSpot has a unique opportunity to help millions of scaling companies leverage the power of AI to drive growth,” Shih said in the release.
In February, HubSpot rolled out a proprietary AI tool designed to help businesses analyze brand awareness across AI search engines. Last week, the company announced it was acquiring XFunnel, a platform that helps businesses optimize their presence on AI search engines.
