Sky Sports Multiview will be back on action-packed Super Sunday, giving you the chance to watch four Premier League games at the same time.
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth, Brentford vs Newcastle, Crystal Palace vs Brighton and Nottingham Forest vs Leeds all kick off at 2pm on Sunday and with Sky Sports Multiview you can watch them all at once or focus on one.
It’s a great way to warm up for the big clash between Man City and Liverpool at 4:30pm. The match will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
We’ve got everything you need to know about Sky Sports Multiview below, but first let’s take a look at the big talking points for each 2pm kick-off…
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth
Aston Villa are dealing with a slow start to the season and will be boosted by Thursday’s win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League, but there are still fundamental and worrying issues for Unai Emery to resolve.
Villa, who have won four of their last five league games, have managed to move up to 11th place after not winning or scoring in their first four games. However, a 2-0 defeat against struggling Liverpool was a stark reminder that they were still not at their previous level.
Villa are second from the bottom in terms of cumulative expected goals (xG), fourth from the bottom in terms of big chances created and third from the bottom in terms of goals scored. It’s no surprise that striker Ollie Watkins has struggled with just one goal in 10 appearances. England manager Thomas Tuchel revealed the Villa striker is struggling with injury after not being named in the November squad.
But Watkins isn’t taking any chances. Villa haven’t produced enough for him. The 29-year-old, who has hit double figures in the Premier League in each of his five seasons since joining from Brentford, needs a supply line.
The match against the Cherries is Emery’s side’s next chance to continue their recovery.
brentford vs newcastle
Eddie Howe’s harsh verdict on Newcastle’s “unacceptable” performance at West Ham has increased the pressure on the Newcastle side to improve on their dismal away record, which has seen them winless in their last eight games and have scored just four goals. Anthony Gordon’s injury doesn’t help.
The atmosphere on Tyneside has soured after bottom side Newcastle spent £260m in the summer. They are becoming an efficient cup team, making progress in the Carabao Cup and Champions League, but lack consistency in the Premier League.
Newcastle’s strongest midfield of Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton looked tired in east London last weekend and couldn’t even beat a pressing West Ham side who appeared to lack the legs.
Now they head to the other side of the capital to take on a Brentford team backed by tenacious midfielder Jordan Henderson, who beat Liverpool, Manchester United, Aston Villa and drew with Chelsea at home this season.
Crystal Palace vs Brighton
Therefore, there was no recall of Danny Welbeck to the England squad. But that doesn’t stop him from being a threat at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
The fact that there were such strong calls for manager Thomas Tuchel to end Welbeck’s seven-year absence from the national team highlights the Brighton striker’s form and what he brings to Fabian Hürzeler’s side.
Although his 35th birthday is just around the corner, Welbeck’s combination of experience, understanding of the game and scoring skills means he continues to be a big problem for Premier League defenders. Palace, who have scored six goals in their last five Premier League games, will have to be wary of the in-form forward who may feel he has a point to prove after being ignored by England.
Nottingham Forest vs Leeds
After a brief respite, Leeds’ scoring problems returned. Having played three of their last four games and only four in open matches all season, coach Daniel Farke was the first to question their ability in the final third.
Farke openly reflected on whether Leeds had sufficiently strengthened their attacking line when the transfer window ended and concerns grew two months on. Leeds have created better chances than Bournemouth this season but have been unable to convert them, resulting in a worse xG performance than the fourth worst in the league.
Noah Okafor is a rare exception, being one of only four players on the team to reach his expected goal total. The problem is that Lucas Nmeka, the team’s best number nine and theoretically the most reliable scorer, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are the worst culprits.
We will have to wait and see whether this is a great opportunity for Nottingham Forest to get their first clean sheet of the season under head coach Sean Dyche, who is proud of them, or a great opportunity for Leeds to find their shot ahead of a tough game.
What is multiview?
This is a new and unique feature on Sky Sports, and for the first time in the UK and Ireland, viewers will be able to watch four Premier League matches at the same time.
This means you’ll be able to watch all four Premier League matches, which kick off at 2pm on Sunday, simultaneously on the same screen.
Each match can also be viewed individually on separate Sky Sports channels.
What channel is it broadcast on?
Multiview will be accessible to TV viewers through the Sky Sports TV app or via the red button on MatchChoice. It will also be available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream. Alternatively, you can watch via the Sky Sports app.
How does it work?
As you can see in the image above, Multiview shows all available games in one big box with one broadcast, while the others are shown across three smaller boxes on the right.
The matches displayed in the large box alternate depending on where the most notable action is taking place at the time, showing every goal and every incident from these four matches.
Viewers always see the ball in play somewhere, ensuring a fast-paced experience.
And is there commentary for every match?
All four games will feature a pair of commentators: Andy Bishop and Lee Hendry.
However, if a viewer leaves the multiview and is watching a single game individually, they will see the same halftime and fulltime analysis as well as individual commentary.
Will there be pre-game and post-game coverage?
All four games on Sunday will be available to watch on Sky Sports Premier League from 12.30pm.
The multi-view stream will be available at 1:55 p.m., ahead of the 2 p.m. kickoff.
Full-time will show all goals from the four games before main coverage continues on Sky Sports Premier League ahead of kick-off at 4.30pm.
Will the interview end there?
no!
After the final game of the day finishes at 4.30pm, an extra-time match between Jamie Carragher and Dave Jones will be broadcast on Sky Sports Premier League from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Viewers will be able to watch highlights from all five of Sunday’s games, as well as Jamie giving his thoughts on all 10 teams playing on Sunday and attacking one of the key talking points.
