The DP World Tour has unveiled a new trophy named after Rory McIlroy to commemorate him becoming Europe’s first career Grand Slam winner.
McIlroy is the sixth male golfer in the modern era to win all four majors, and his dramatic playoff success at the Masters puts him on a par with Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in the Grand Slam club.
The Rory McIlroy Award will be introduced for the 2026 season and will be awarded to the DP World Tour member who achieves the best results in all four majors during the calendar year.

The award goes to the player with the most Race to Dubai points at the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and British Open, but McIlroy himself is not eligible for the award.
“It’s a great honor and a very humbling feeling to have something named after me that will go to future generations of players,” McIlroy said ahead of the DP World Tour Championship.
“The DP World Tour was the starting point for my career so it certainly means a lot to me. I always loved playing there and of course I loved representing Europe and the Tour in the Ryder Cup.

The Rory McIlroy Award is the latest to be named after a player who has made a significant contribution to the sport of golf, with trophies given to Seve Ballesteros, Harry Vardon, Sir Henry Cotton and John Jacobs.

The Seve Ballesteros Award is awarded annually to the athlete of the year as voted for by members, the Harry Vardon Trophy is awarded to the Race to Dubai winner and the Sir Henry Cotton Award is awarded to the Rookie of the Year. The John Jacobs Trophy, named after the founder of the European Tour, is awarded to the winner of the Legends Tour Order of Merit.
