Apple is reportedly developing three AI wearables

Late last month, The Information reported that Apple was developing an AI wearable, an AirTag-sized pendant with a camera that could be pinned to a user’s shirt. Now, Bloomberg writes that development of such a device, along with two other AI-powered products, is accelerating as Apple seeks to stay competitive with other tech giants competing to release similar products.

In addition to the AI pin, the report claims that Apple is also accelerating the development of its upcoming AI-powered smart glasses, codenamed N50. Other companies are working on similar products, including Meta (arguably the most successful company when it comes to smart glasses) and Snap (which plans to release “specs” later this year), so it’s clear that Apple is competing in this space.

Apple’s new smart glasses, likely equipped with high-resolution cameras, could be released to the public sooner rather than later, with Bloomberg reporting that the company is “aiming to begin production as early as December, ahead of a public release in 2027.”

Additionally, Bloomberg reported that Apple is working on AirPods with new AI features.

The outlet notes that all of these items are designed to connect to the iPhone and include the company’s virtual assistant, Siri, as a key component of the user experience. However, the glasses are described as “more premium and feature-rich” than AirPods or AI pendants. TechCrunch has reached out to Apple for more information.
