Skylight introduces Calendar 2 to keep your family organized

Skylight may have started as a digital photo frame, but now it’s focused on helping families stay organized with shared calendars, lists, meal planning tools, and more.

At CES 2026, the company announced its latest product, Skylight Calendar 2. It has a sleeker design than the original 15-inch calendar, but is smaller than the 27-inch wall calendar Max. Like the larger calendar apps, the new digital calendar app and family organizer also lets you swap out the frames for different colors to match your home decor.

The biggest selling point is not the digital screen itself, but the underlying software and AI capabilities. The main feature, Calendar, is actually a mashup of all the family calendars from the services you use, like Google Calendar, iCal, Microsoft, and even kids sports apps like TeamSnap.

The calendar is color-coded so you can see everyone’s schedule at a glance, and you can actually import “calendars” like an email with some important dates or a flyer sent home in Junior’s backpack. (The latter is an AI feature that takes a photo of the paper and updates the calendar with new events.)

The company is also looking to address other challenges for families, such as managing grocery lists, appointment reminders, meal planning, and recipe discovery. Of course, you can also display family photos even when you’re not using it.

The app is designed to be easy to read, with simple navigation, pops of color, and images that even young children can use. For example, even if you can’t read yet, you can look for pictures to help you complete your chores.

Parents also love the ability to plan meals, whether it’s simply reminding them Tuesday is taco night or finding recipes and preparing a shopping list. Skylight can help here too. You can also automatically create grocery shopping lists and add them to your Instacart app.

Another clever AI feature lets you take a photo of what’s in your fridge and get recipe recommendations based on what you have on hand.

The need for such a system clearly resonates with customers. Skylight has been a bootstrapped company since its inception, with more than 1.3 million families using its digital calendar to date, and more families likely to do so as the new design ships.
