Brugge led three times against Barcelona, and although they conceded the fourth goal, they ultimately shared the points.

Spanish giants Barcelona needed three comebacks to beat Club Brugge to a 3-3 draw in the Champions League. For Hansi Flick’s side, teenage winger Lamine Yamal came into his own and helped the Reds earn a point in a thrilling game in Belgium.

On Wednesday, Barça’s defense was repeatedly shattered by the hosts, as Brugge winger Carlos Forbes scored two goals and Nicolo Tresoldi scored one.

Own goals from Ferran Torres, Yamal and Christos Tzoris saved Barcelona from a humiliating defeat despite a number of injuries.

Barcelona’s form has been inconsistent in recent weeks, including a Clasico loss to rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.

The hosts took an early lead at the Jan Breydel Stadium with a goal from Tresoldi, set up by Electric Forbes.

Brugge set an early blueprint for how they could continue to inflict damage on the Catalans as Forbs rampaged behind Barcelona’s high defensive line.

Flick’s side hit back quickly with Torres producing a smart finish after Fermin López played in.

In a relentless battle between both teams determined to attack, Forms scored Brugge’s second goal after midfielder López hit the wooden frame.

The Portuguese winger played a one-two with Tzoris and again found his way into the space behind the Barça defense before calmly finishing the ball past Wojciech Szczesny.

As last year’s semi-finalists looked to equalize, Barça defender Jules Kounde hit his shot against the opposite bar.

Yamal, who was once again a key player for the team after a recent slump, created a great chance to score for Torres before the break, but the striker curled the ball past goalkeeper Nordin Jackers and wide.

Brugge continued to attack in the second half, with Szczesny showing no intention of defending their lead, making a good save from Joaquín Sais at his near post.

Eric Garcia almost scored with a long-range shot, but his shot hit the crossbar and hit the goal frame, becoming the third Barça player to do so.

Yamal and López combined well to break through and Barcelona eventually equalized with a great goal.

Lopez backheeled the ball into the path of the teenager and Yamal flicked it past the Jackers and into the bottom corner of the goal.

Forbes squandered a golden chance to put his side back in the lead, but he was given another chance minutes later and took it with a stylish finish.

Hans Vanaken slotted him into the net and delicately slotted a shot past Szczesny for the second goal and Brugge’s third.

Forbes was awarded a penalty after colliding with Barça’s Alejandro Balde in the penalty area, but the penalty was canceled after a VAR check revealed that he had actually collided with the Spaniard.

The Jackers made an excellent save to send Yamal’s shot into the top corner, but there was nothing they could do to counter Barça’s equalizer.

Yamal’s curling shot from the right side hit Tsolis’ head and deflected, beating the goalkeeper.

Brugge’s veteran goalkeeper Szczesny tried to turn back inside the area in stoppage time in the second half, but Romeo Vermant slipped in and lost the ball.

Vermand curled the ball into an empty net, but the Belgian forward was adjudged to have fouled a relieved Szczesny and the goal was disallowed by VAR.

In another Champions League game on Wednesday, Erling Haaland scored against his former club as his Manchester City side beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 on Wednesday.

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick in the second half to secure a comfortable 3-0 away victory over hapless Ajax.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen beat Benfica 1-0, bouncing back from a 7-2 loss to title holders Paris Saint-Germain two weeks ago.

Runners-up Inter Milan won 2-1 against Khairat Almuti, making it their fourth win in as many matches. Inter, Arsenal and leaders Bayern Munich are the only teams to have won every Champions League game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0, while Atalanta narrowly defeated Olympique de Marseille 1-0.
