When Max Brodeur-Urbas co-founded Gumloop in mid-2023, his vision was to help non-technical employees automate repetitive tasks using AI. At the time, the concept of AI agents was still largely experimental and error-prone. As AI technology has matured, so have Gumloop’s services. The company claims that teams at organizations like Shopify, Ramp, Gusto, Samsara, Instacart, and Opendoor can now deploy reliable AI agents that autonomously handle complex multi-step tasks without the need for engineers. Employees can share the agents they build with colleagues, creating a compounding effect that accelerates internal automation. “They get addicted and start building more and more…
gold It soared during last year’s 12-day war with Iran, but gave up that gain after a cease-fire was announced. But two weeks after the latest dispute, the price has barely moved. After the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, gold rose from $5,296 to $5,423 per troy ounce, consistent with the axiom that geopolitical turmoil drives investors towards traditional “safe-haven assets.”But the decline saw the price drop more than 6% to $5,085 on March 3. It traded between $5,050 and $5,200 this week as the conflict escalated. Spot gold was last trading at $5,175 per troy…
Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emile Michael said Thursday that Anthropic’s Claude artificial intelligence model “contaminates” the Pentagon’s supply chain because it incorporates “different policy preferences.””We cannot allow companies with different policy preferences that are built into their models, through their constitution and their soul and their policy preferences, to contaminate our supply chain so that our warfighters are getting ineffective weapons, ineffective body armor, ineffective body armor,” Michael said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “That’s where the supply chain risk designation comes from.” Anthropic is the first U.S. company to be publicly certified for supply chain risks, an unusual step historically…

Max Verstappen says he is in talks with F1 and the FIA about how to improve the sport’s new rules.Verstappen has been a vocal critic of the 2026 regulations, which require a 50/50 split between internal combustion engines and electricity, requiring a greater energy deployment strategy, and said he does not enjoy driving the latest cars as much as previous generations. This casts doubt on the four-time world champion’s long-term future in the sport. However, speaking at the drivers’ press conference ahead of this weekend’s second race in China, Verstappen said that although he confirmed he would take part in…
Palantir As a clash between the artificial intelligence startup and the Department of Defense unfolds, the company is still using Anthropic’s Claude, CEO Alex Karp told CNBC on Thursday.”The Department of the Army has a plan to phase out Anthropic, but it is not currently phased out,” Karp told CNBC’s Seema Modi at Palantir’s AIPcon 9 in Maryland. “Our product is integrated with Anthropic and may be integrated with other large language models in the future.”As CNBC previously reported, the Pentagon formally designated Anthropic as a supply chain risk last week, but is still using the Claude model to support…
We’re halfway through the Cheltenham Festival. Thankfully, and mercifully, the great work of Johnny Who in the opening day Ultima Handicap Chase and Ile Etite Temps in Wednesday’s Champion Chase will ensure this column ends the week on a positive note. These really big meetings can be very testing for meetings that put horses into the public arena that aren’t short sale prices. Given the differences, there is a good chance that a conference of the length of the Cheltenham Festival or Royal Ascot can be managed without intimidating the judges. Believe me, I was that guy too! So for…
A new study from the SAPIEN Institute of 1 million people aged 18 and older in 84 countries finds that young people in countries such as Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya fare better than those in the United States. The researchers based their results on what they called “mental health,” a measure that reflects people’s ability to function in daily life based on their cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities. They found that on a Mind Health Quotient (MHQ) scale of -100 (distress) to 200 (thriving), Ghanaian 18- to 34-year-olds scored 69, while young Americans scored 36. The top five countries for…
Mercedes driver George Russell has accused Ferrari of being “selfish” and “a bit stupid” for blocking the FIA from changing Formula 1’s starting procedure for this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix.Russell won Sunday’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix with team-mate Kimi Antonelli after locking out the front row in a one-two at the checkered flag, but both had to recover from losing places at the start. The reason for the delay, Russell said, was that the two drivers and several other drivers ran low on battery power after the formation lap due to a rule that put drivers who qualified in the…
