An elite unit of the Iranian military planned to assassinate Israel’s ambassador to Mexico, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter. The plan was developed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force and began in late 2024 and was active until the first half of this year, the people said on condition of anonymity.
