Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m transfer fee with Tottenham to sign Brennan Johnson.
Sky Sports News understands that the winger has not yet made a final decision, although discussions have progressed rapidly over the past 24 hours.
As Sky Sports News reported on Monday, Bournemouth are also interested in Johnson. With Antoine Semenyo’s £65m move to Manchester City looming, they are looking for a replacement.
Johnson has been at Spurs since 2023, when he signed for £47.5m from Nottingham Forest. Last season, he was the club’s top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions, including the winning goal in the Europa League final in May.
However, he has only started six games in the Premier League this season under new manager Thomas Frank, playing on either flank after losing his place to Mohamed Kudus, who joined from West Ham in a £55m deal this summer.
Speaking live on Sky Sports ahead of Spurs’ visit to Brentford on New Year’s Day, Frank said he expected the 24-year-old to still play at the G Tech Community Stadium and that a more permanent future would not be drawn.
“There are rumors going around. Generally speaking, whether we’re signing or selling players or whether we’re moving staff in and out, I don’t comment on that. I have no interest in commenting either way,” he said.
“He was instrumental in a very good and important win against Crystal Palace. He has trained very well. I fully expect him to be available and play against Brentford.”
Johnson has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 27 goals in 107 games for the club.
Crystal Palace sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal this summer and are currently without forward Ismaila Sarr, who is currently playing in the African Cup of Nations.
Who will replace Johnson at the Spurs?
Spurs are looking to sign a new forward and wanted to sign Semenyo ahead of interest from Man City and several other top clubs.
They expressed interest in Man City winger Sabinho in the summer, but Sky Sports News understands that City are keen to keep hold of the Brazilian, who signed a new contract earlier this season.
Dejan Kulusevski has yet to recover from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since May, allowing him to undergo surgery on his right side.
Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici was pictured sitting alongside chief executive Vinay Vinkateshem during Spurs’ win over Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, amid speculation about a potential move to Fiorentina.
Italy’s Sky reported that the Italian club would like him to play a similar role at their club, but it is understood that no formal approach has yet been received from Spurs.
Roma interested in Spurs defender Dragusin
According to Italy’s Sky, Roma are looking to sign a new centre-back and bring in two Premier League players.
Tottenham centre-back Radu Dragusin and Chelsea defender Axel Disasi are of interest to the Italian club as they look to strengthen their defence.
Disasi, who was part of Chelsea’s summer ‘bomb squad’, will be available next month, but it is not clear whether Dragusin will be available from Spurs.
However, Sky Sports News understands that Spurs are looking to add another natural left-sided defender and already have five centre-back options.
Dragusin recently returned from a long-term injury and was a substitute in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Disasi had recently played for Chelsea’s Under-21s but was not registered with the first team in September.
